Singapore Places of Interest
Interest rating based on my experience and budget:
- Jurong Bird Park (good from 1pm to 5pm)
- around 18 SGD ticket, but really worthy it, tons of birds in close distance
- Singapore River, Merlion Park, Esplanade “Durian Building” and City Hall area (morning walking)
- free, and all in sunshine walking distance, including Asian Culture Museum
- Sentosa (afternoon to night)
- around 5 SGD entry ticket, buy your food outside first if you don't want to spend money inside.
- Bugis shopping area (evening)
- good price stuffs there, but Singapore is not a shopping city
- Orchard road (afternoon to evening)
- I am not a shopping person, I only go to the Kinokuniya bookstore (quite big) at Ngee Ann City mall (so-called the largest shopping mall) for book reading.
- Botanic Garden (morning to afternoon)
- free entry and tons of huge trees, tricky to get there, but suggest walking to it from Orchard MRT, 20 min to 30 min leisure walking.
- Singapore Zoo and next-to-it Night Safari (afternoon to evening)
- prepare for a 50min MRT+Bus trip, but quite a lot of animals in a compact zoo with nice arrangement
- MacRitchie Reservoir Park (whole afternoon)
- beautiful park with famous tree-top bridge, need take short bus there, preparing for half day trail walking with your food. (Be careful for dangerous monkey stealing)
- East coast park (early morning to afternoon to evening)
- good for a Sunday trip with friends
- Bukit Timah Hill (whole afternoon)
- free, tallest hill in Singapore (around 280meter), good for 3 hour hiking, and need to take bus for a while to arrive.
- Little india (afternoon)
- nothing to say, try the food, take photo, and that is it. Sim Lim square electronic mall is near its MRT
Others:
- Chinatown
- I don't think it's interesting because it is designed to sell so-called traditional Chinese stuff, which I, as Chinese from China, don't think so.
- Chinese Garden
- not sure
Advanced Place of Interest for others like to explore
- Henderson Wave Bridge (on Henderson road acrossing “telok blangah hill park” and “Mount Faber Park”)
- Labrador Nature Reserve (all the way down the Alexandra road, can see Sentosa next to sea)
- Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve (for photographing birds, it is far far in the north west from kranji MRT)
