sqrt (2) ^ 3 = 2.8 Here we have f2.8

One stop down:
sqrt (2) ^ 2 = 2.0

Hence:
sqrt (2) ^ 1 = 1.4
sqrt (2) ^ 0 = 1
sqrt (2) ^ -1 = 0.7

an f number of 0.95 relates to a stop of -0.148
sqrt (2) ^ -0.148 = 0.95
